🦉 Issue #23: I can feel it coming in the air tonight.

Everything we've ever known about artistic audio is about to change.

If you're finding it tough to get ChatGPT to mimic your unique author voice, I have the perfect solution.

Instead of spending endless hours tweaking and revising ChatGPT's responses, why not "pre-prompt" it? Tailor your prompts according to your style, tone, and target audience.

I'm excited to introduce my ebook, "How to Ask AI to Create a Style Guide for Your Blog or Newsletter." For just under three dollars, you can enhance every piece of content you create with ChatGPT. There are no gimmicks, no upsells—just a tried-and-true method from someone who's cracked the code of the ChatGPT first draft.

Currently, you can find the ebook on Amazon, but it will soon be available across all major ebook platforms, including Barnes & Noble, Apple, and Kobo.

I'm also working on more of these "quick guides." What other AI guides would you find helpful?

✨ Personal Update

Shout out to my friend Jim for the recommendation.

“The Bear” is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say I never thought I’d be this enamored with a comedy/drama about a greasy spoon in Chicago.

My wife and I binged the first two seasons, hoping they get the greenlight for a third. Wow!

Note: “The Bear” is streaming as a Hulu exclusive.

🎧 Tune into AI: Amazon's Anthropic Adventure Amplifies Audiobook Ambitions

Summary

Amazon is shelling out a whopping $4 billion to invest in Anthropic, an AI firm that rivals OpenAI, the folks behind yours truly. Anthropic, despite being a relative newcomer to the scene, has been turning heads with their AI chatbot, Claude 2.

Amazon's not just handing over cash; they're teaming up for a full-on strategic collaboration. They're positioning themselves as the ultimate AI hub, crafting their own chips and offering platforms like Amazon Bedrock for those who want to dabble in the world of AI without starting from scratch.

My Take

Just last week, every AI newsletter was buzzing about Amazon's latest move. But here's a twist for you – think about what this could mean for audio content.

For all the independent authors out there, producing audiobooks has been a real pocket-drainer. Enter ElevenLabs with their shiny new audiobook production service, and suddenly, the playing field looks a bit more even. No longer will the big names and deep pockets dominate the scene.

With Amazon throwing 4 billion dollars into the AI pot, I bet that the current AI-narrator ban on ACX (Audible) will soon be history.

And for those of you raising an eyebrow, thinking AI is just another tech bubble that'll burst, might I direct your attention to Microsoft's Windows 11 announcement? If you're on the fence about AI, I hate to break it to you – this train's not slowing down anytime soon.

🎤 Mock & Roll: Spotify’s AI-Mimicry Hits a Controversial Note

Summary

Spotify has made it pretty clear—they aren't booting AI-generated tunes.

Artists like Hozier are cranking up the volume against this AI trend, worried about it stealing their creative mojo. Drake and The Weeknd? They didn’t even know their voices were cloned until they heard their doppelgangers on the track, "Heart on My Sleeve."

Spotify is also diving headfirst into the world of podcasts, throwing cash at big names like the Obamas and the Sussexes, with mixed results.

My Take

Spotify's boss is sending a clear message. They're rolling out the red carpet for AI-generated music. It's only a matter of time before they plunge into the realm of AI audiobook narration. And if Audible doesn't hop on that train? Spotify might just leave them in the dust.

Who knows what this AI frenzy means for the future of podcasting?

Bottom line, for all you audio creatives out there, this shift might shake up your revenue streams in ways you didn't see coming. And for the music industry? Hold onto your guitars, because there are some serious debates and disruptions on the way.

📅 Agenda Alert: AI Sidekicks Taking Over by 2028!

Summary

Mustafa Suleyman, the brainchild behind Google's AI division, DeepMind, spilled the beans on CNBC. He's hinting that in just five years, we're all going to be using our own AI-powered personal sidekicks.

Suleyman's got his sights set on a broader horizon – imagine a world where everyone has their own virtual 'chief of staff.'

As for the techie pioneers riding the AI wave, it isn't just Suleyman leading the charge. Big players like Bill Gates and Tim Cook are also placing their bets on this tech revolution.

My Take

Ubiquity – it's not just a fancy word. It's the very essence of what our tech world is gravitating towards. If you thought the Microsoft Windows 11 buzz was something, wait until you see the AI ripples making waves.

I've had a taste of Suleyman's genius through the chatbot, Pi. And trust me, it's like having a dedicated assistant who doesn't judge you for forgetting your anniversary.

But are we ready to hand over the reins? I'm on the fence, but I suspect the children of today won’t give it a second thought. They'll be living in a realm where a digital buddy is as commonplace as Wi-Fi.

🎶 Digital Divas & AI Anthems: The Unplugged Future of Music?

Summary

Living Colour guitarist, Vernon Reid, expresses deep concerns about AI's growing role in music.

While some dismiss AI in music as just another fad, Reid delves deeper, pondering its nuanced implications. Imagine Whitney Houston singing again, only this time, an AI's pulling the strings. Or better yet, an AI spitting out lyrics that Stevie Wonder "never" wrote? Amusing at first, but scary when you think about it.

We might just be ushering in an era where artists exist only in the digital ether. For all you curious creatives out there, the question isn't just about how AI shapes music, but how it reshapes our very essence. Are we, as Reid hints, staring down a world where our very uniqueness is at stake?

My Take

If AI's our ticket to conquering massive challenges like cancer or climate change, then maybe we're paying with our human creativity. Soon it might be a novelty, much like those folks who reenact Civil War battles.

Reid's right – for a lot of folks, music's just background noise. With streaming platforms reigning supreme, the worth of a tune has plummeted, and with AI on the horizon, we might be seeing its swan song.

But here's a thought: while our hearts will always beat to the rhythm of art, maybe it's time we accept that the world owes us no paycheck for it.

💽 AI music by musicians, for musicians.

Imagine creating music by simply describing it. That’s what Stable Audio does. I know what Vernon Reid probably thinks about this. I’m torn. But I realize this is the future of audio production so if you’re in the industry, you probably want to pay attention.

From their site: “Create custom-length music just by describing it. Powered by the latest audio diffusion models. Generate and download audio in 44.1 kHz stereo. Use the music you create with Stable Audio in your commercial projects.”
